This season, Saks Fifth Avenue presented their new campaign, Here for the Future, starring comedian, actress, and producer Tiffany Haddish and international Latin music idol, Maluma. The latest campaign is a showcase of new and innovative designers, artists, and activists who Saks believes are shaping the future of their industries. Their collections are meant to push the boundaries of fashion and buck the traditional with unique collections from brands and designers like BruceGlen, Busayo, Christopher John Rogers, Farm Rio, Kimberly Goldson, and Tove.

The lines, all available at Saks, range from Tove’s uncomplicated basics to the embellished hardware and leopard-clad handbags by BruceGlen. And those looking for a distinctly updated wardrobe will want to shop the collections of these new and featured designers. Busayo, an NYC-based brand, specializes in African-print dresses for women, using bright colors and rich textiles for a unique collection that’s all its own. All of their pieces are dyed using adire, a traditional Yoruba textile dyeing technique that began in Southwest Nigeria at the turn of the 20th century.
Another NYC-based designer, Christopher John Rogers, creates pieces with a desire to connect to the emotional and the sensitive, with a collection of bright neon colorblock sweaters, tiered ruffled dresses, and separates. On the other hand, Tove does the opposite, presenting a collection of basics made in solid colors, relying on texture and silhouette alone to capture modern femininity.
But those who need prints in their closet will want to shop Farm Rio, a line designed by creatives from Rio de Janeiro. Synonymous with the Brazilian passion for color and life, the pieces are bright and bold and not for the sartorially meek. This brand started in 1997 at a stall in a local independent fashion market and now tells its international tale with exotic, fashion-forward designs. The eco-conscious brand also plants a tree with every purchase made, and to date, has planted over 50,000 trees in the Amazon rainforest.
Project Runway finalist Kimberly Goldson created her eponymous label with her sister Shelly Powell and shares their love of their hometown of Brooklyn and their international travels through their designs. It’s a bold and distinctive line that is wearable and easy all at once. Like the other designers in the Here for the Future campaign, they push the narrative and create pieces for the future of fashion.
